Samuel D. Brotman is an associate in our firm. Mr. Brotman's practice centers in the areas of corporate, criminal and civil tax controversy, and real estate law. In addition to his practice, he serves as deputy general counsel for Dallo and Company, Inc., a regional supermarket conglomerate with thirteen stores (Harvest Ranch, Foodland Supermarkets, etc.) and is responsible for overseeing legal issues for over eight hundred employees. Mr. Brotman has extensive regulatory experience dealing with various departments of the federal, state, and local government. In addition to his legal duties, Mr. Brotman also chairs the firm's marketing activities and manages www.IRSsolution.com.
Before joining our firm, Mr. Brotman completed a clerkship with Bainbridge, Inc., a preeminent consulting firm, where he handled a variety of transactional, intellectual property, securities, and corporate regulatory issues. Mr. Brotman also has served as a legal assistant at Covington & Burling LLP in New York City. There he was a key representative on over twenty major corporate transactions and was assistant to special counsel for two of the largest bankruptcies in United States history.
Mr. Brotman received his Juris Doctorate from the University of San Diego. While in law school, Mr. Brotman was professionally certified as a mediator and won numerous awards for oral and written advocacy. He was also a past president of the USD Vis Moot International Arbitrations team and led his team to the most accolades in school history. Prior to law school, Mr. Brotman graduated cum laude from Wabash College with a dual B.A. in English and Religion and received “highest honors” standing from St. Catherine's College, Oxford University in 2004. Mr. Brotman was a member of the American Field Service in 1999 and was one of twenty-eight students chosen for a year long course of study in Japan.
Mr. Brotman is a candidate for his Masters of Laws in Taxation (LLM) at the University of San Diego and his Masters in Business Administration at San Diego State University. He will obtain both masters degrees by 2013 and will sit for the New York Bar Examination in February of 2012.
