In 2010, Ronson Shamoun solidified his place among San Diego’s pre-eminent tax practitioners and expanded his practice to five attorneys and a CPA. During the past seven years, Shamoun has helped thousands of clients find solutions to their civil and criminal tax problems. His practice principally centers on federal and state taxation with an emphasis on tax controversy, real estate and corporate law. Shamoun handles tax cases of all sizes, from settling small dollar tax controversies for lower income taxpayers to multimillion-dollar tax controversies and several large criminal tax trials.
Shamoun also serves as general counsel for the Shamoun Investment Co. and for Dallo & Co., a regional supermarket conglomerate with 11 stores and more than 800 employees. His accomplishments have earned him a sterling reputation in the legal community among government personnel, area counsel and clients. In the past year, Shamoun has also been a frequent tax and legal commentator for many San Diego area news stations.
Shamoun has performed substantial work for the community both in and outside of his practice. RJS Law has a history of working with lower income taxpayers and donates more than a thousand hours per year through its pro-bono practice. The firm also offers many free services to its clients and froze its billing rates this year in light of the economic recession. Shamoun donates frequently to local organizations and sponsors many events through his firm, including a charity ball this year that will provide Christmas gifts and clothing to underprivileged children in the San Diego area.
His ties to the local community extend to multiple business ventures throughout San Diego County. In addition to his businesses, Shamoun serves on the Ocean Beach Planning Board and received special commendations from the County of San Diego Board of Supervisors and the Ocean Beach Town Council Board of Directors as a result of his record of service on the town council.
A first-generation Chaldean Catholic immigrant from Northern Iraq, Shamoun credits his father, whose lifelong dedication to their family enabled his success in this country. Shamoun was born and raised in San Diego and earned his bachelor’s in accounting, juris doctor and master of laws in taxation degrees at the University of San Diego. While attending USD, Shamoun was also a founding father of the local chapter of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity.
Shamoun lives in San Diego with his wife, Melanie, and their daughter Mariella.
